Esterillos Oeste is a self contained community. Should you decide not to rent a car, eveything you need is available in the neighborhood. Our villa is located on the beach very close to everything. We are about 75 feet from the ocean and 30 yards from the park on the beach where you can meet Steve (Vago), Margot, and Steven, the family that owns The Reef Resturant and Bar. Across the street is the Low Tide Lounge. A newer addition is the Los Almendros Resturant. Here, the owner Karen oversees an excellent menu and atmosphere. By the way....all of the resturants have great food and great prices. Esterillos also has a mercado that has all of your grocery needs and we recently saw a meat market open next to the police station. My advice is to walk around the area, eat at the local eateries and enjoy the ticos and gringos that manage to live in harmony. There is always something to do here. I think the best description of my frequest visits here is "time well wasted".
